I'm finding myself in need of a 4 string bass and not having a lot of money. So I'm looking for a good 4 string bass or parts for a four string.
So up for trade is an Ibanez EDB555. Here are the specs...
-2 piece Swamp ash body in walnut flat stain
-5 piece Wenge bubinga neck
-rosewood fretboard
-duncan designed pickups
-Ibanez vari-mid eq (from my Ibanez Prestige)
-Hipshot ultralight tuners
-Hipshot speed knobs
-Hipshot strap buttons
-Black Ibanez bridge
-Fully shielded electronics cavity
-Controls v/blend/mid stack, bass/treble stack
-around 8.25 lbs
-16.5 mm string spacing
The disclosure section: I am the original owner of this bass. It was my main player for about ayear and does show it. It took a backseat when I got my SR1005 fully modded. So this bass has seen some work. It has had several pre amps in and I finally settled on the pre from my SR1005. All of the hardware was the cosmo black but I have changed all of it including the bridge to black. The bridge has some routing around it (pictured below) but was stained to match the rest of the body. The frets have been leveled. And the neck has been sanded. I think thats it.
This bass plays and sounds awesome. I do like my SR1005 better (with maybe the exception of the neck)but have dumped a lot more money into it. This bass has low action with just a touch of releif and has a good B string wouldn't say it's the best I've heard but it is totally usable and not floppy. Bass balances well and is relatively light weight. I did 4 hour gigs with no problem.
As I said I'm looking for a 4 string and willing to add some cash for the right deal. I like pretty much all brands obviously Ibanez is one. Not sure what cash value I'd put on this bass But they were $600 new and Ibanez did switch to a bubinga jatoba neck and IMHO the wenge bubinga is leaps and bounds better. Guess thats why they use it on the higher end Japanese models.
Cash price $375 OBO.
