After spending a great deal of time with this bass, and mulling it over, and over, and over, I have decided to offer my NYC Sadowsky single coil jazz for sale. In playing a great deal alone as well as with a group, I have concluded that this bass is, by far, the nicest single coil jazz bass I have ever held in my hands. And, with that, I have concluded that I am not a SC jazz kind of guy. I love that modern sound. The more hi-fi, the better for my ears. For many years, I played a Modulus Quantum 5, and I really have concluded that it is "my" sound.

So, here this one is. Up for sale. The specs:

  • 2003 New York City Sadowsky jazz 5 string
  • '59 burst on a flamed top with Ash core.
  • Maple fingerboard.

I am unsure if the body is chambered, as it was built during the transition. However, the bass weighs 8.7 pounds.

From three feet away, the bass looks amazing. There are no flaws that really show when playing. But, in the interest of disclosure, the following blems should be considered:

  1. A 1/8" diameter impact pit on the front of the bass behind the control plate above the input jack. This is the only blem on front. It has been color filled and polished. It is only noticeable when actually inspecting the bass.
  2. There 5-6 scratches on the top of the bass (looking down when wearing it) ranging from 1/4 to 1/2 inch. They are in the black part of the burst. Again, invisible when being played. The beauty is that these scratches, along with all of the blems I will mention, are in the black part of the burst. you can swipe over them with a black sharpie and rub off the excess with your finger and they are almost made invisible.
  3. Two additional 1/8" diameter impact pits on the bottom front of the lower horn. Again, they have been colored and polished.
  4. The back has modest to moderate buckle rash and some crazing.
  5. The neck has a single "cymbal wound" between the B and E tuners on the top leading edge of the headstock. Roughly 1 mm wide by 1 mm deep.

All in all, the bass is absolutely beautiful. It is not mint, but I do not think the cosmetic condition is an issue at all, and I have VERY picky.

The bass plays and sounds as amazing as one would expect from a Sadowsky.

The sale includes the pictured tort PG as well as a parchment PG. The case is the Sadowsky ultralight HC. It is in good condition.

I am asking $3,000 for the bass. Exactly what I paid. It will stay in my possession a LONG time before I let it go for less.

Trade interest includes:

Modulus Quantum 5
Zon 5
Sadowsky Modern 24 (with Sadowsky soaps)
Dingwall ABII
Ken Smith

Please note in advance that I am very picky about condition. I will not trade for a beat up bass regardless of the deal.

Please ignore the fogged hardware in the photo, it was pretty humid the day the photo was taken.

Do you have any pics of the blemishes? That would help.

AUGGH! Here this bass comes up again and I don't have the funds. I'm pretty certain that this has to be one of my all time favorite Sadowskys.:bassist:

You wouldn't be interested in a fretless bass trade would you?

I am very surprised that I have not received an offer on this bass. So, anyway, here is a bump!

I haven't seen any action on my M5-24 either. Very slow these days. I can't do any shopping until I sell it.
