Selling my ESP LTD TL-5SM semi-hollow bass.

Bought this bass for a specific gig and is no longer getting any use. I only played it a handful of times at church and has spent the rest of its time on a wall hanger in my smoke free climate controlled home.

Mahogany body with a really nicely figured Spalted Maple top and matching headstock. Fingerboard is a nice dark Rosewood.

Sounds great with the LaBella Low Tension flats that have been on it since the day I got it. The Fishman preamp and piezo pickup sound really nice. The onboard tuner is functional in a pinch if you don't have a tuner otherwise.

I bought this bass from Sweetwater as a
B-stock. There is a hairline finish crack on
top of the binding by the nut on the B string
side and a finish irregularity on the back by
control cavity. (See pictures) This qualified it
as B-stock but honestly I would not have even
noticed if Sweetwater wasn't upfront about it.
Otherwise I can't find a mark on it.

Would prefer a local deal since I don't have a case for it but we could work something out for shipping CONUS.

I've been very curious about these basses for awhile now. I don't currently own an ABG/semi-hollow, but I'm kind of getting a hankering, and leaning towards semi-hollow (if it's gonna be one or the other...)

They make these with a spruce top too, which is my preference, as I've never much cared for the look of spalted maple. But regardless of which top, the general impression I get of ESP/LTD is that they're good-to-great-quality instruments. :bassist:

I was definitely surprised at how nice the fit and finish was considering the price point. If I had a use for it I would keep it but I have my eye on other things.

How loud is this unplugged?

It's not very loud on its own. If you're jamming in a room by yourself it's fine but if you're at a gig or jamming with another acoustic guitar you would want to plug in to a small amp at least. You could mic it as well.

That being said, I have only played it with flatwounds and fingers. I would assume with rounds and a pick could match an acoustic easier. I would still plug in for a gig though.

Have one of these and craftsmanship, playability and amplified tone with the stock strings are all top notch for the price point… very workable and a
great vibe bass for specific venues/settings. Something tells me it could be fun recording with as well. Mine’s currently adding “wall art” value in my living room above the wine table… LOL…. Seriously, these are great value, capable and good looking instruments! GLWTS!
