Details

Yes, you saw it right. This MTD Super 5 weighs 7.4lbs! It is the lightest bass I have ever owned and it does not lack in tone whatsoever. I have played a few other Super 5s and this sounds as good or better than any I have played. Now to the good stuff. It is a blue burst finish on an Empress body with maple neck and beautiful birdseye board. Matching headstock and truss rod cover. 35" scale 1 13/16" nut with 19mm spacing at the bridge. It has coil taps for each pickup which gives you tons of tonal options. The switches go from single to dual coil. 3 band EQ with push/pull on the mid pot to choose between 400 and 800hz. Push/pull on the volume put for active/passive. The bass is in mint condition and comes with the original MTD/Protec gig bag, MTD letter and tools.

$3600 shipped Cont US. Street price for a new one with these options is $5300 Trades: I am really looking for an MTD Saratoga P/J 5, F Bass P/J 5 or a Dingwall Z3. But, you can throw other offers at me. Just don't be offended if I turn it down. This is a great bass. So I am not in a super hurry to see it go.

These aren't the best pictures I have done. I don't have my studio lighting setup right now. So, it's not perfect. But, the bass is beautiful.

Two of my relatives above here, Rodneyat and Jebmd: I still have the 435 #343 quilt maple tobacco burst.
That 535 blows my mind. I can't believe the weight! That Empress/Paulownia wood body must defy gravity. The PU location and series/Parallel toggles...I'm getting aroused just thinking about it all.
Although I'm not much of a 5 stringer, I wish I could give that bass a test drive.
So Rodney, what's my discount for being a repeat buyer!
I second the above comment; Great seller!

Thx for the kind words.

The switches are actually single coil/dual coil. In dual coil, they are parallel. It’s extremely versatile. :). I’ve owned many MTDs and the neck on this one can get lower action than any I’ve seen. It plays like butter

And I thought Swamp Ash was the king of light weight basses!
Rodney, I've got to know...Describe what this wood combination sounds like?
You already know I've got the 435 that you had...That weights slightly more than your 535!

Tonally, it is overall very similar to swamp ash. I think if the pickups were in a traditional position, it may be slightly mellower than ash. But, shifted to the bridge you get the aggressive tone out of it. And it is definitely ballsy but still natural and articulate. You get a lot of tonal options with the coil taps. Personally, my favorite is the neck pickup in single coil and the bridge in dual. But when I really want to extra barky sound. I run them both in both in dual.

I'll tell you what, studio or no studio photo's; You post the best pic's here on TB.
You could sell snow to an Eskimo with the quality and professionalism!
I love the pic's you took of the 435 I bought from you!
I keep coming back to look at this 535...If I wasn't looking for a Dingwall ABZ 4...

There have been some questions on the controls. It has a 3 band EQ with push/pull on the mid pot for 400/800Hz. And push pull on volume pot for active passive. The switches are for single coil and dual operation on each pickup.

Wow, I didn't realize the control set-up was that way, nice! Rodney, what are you trying to do, sell this great bass or what!
I tried the pull/push action on the 435 controls I got from you and the knobs just keep coming off!
I'm only kidding! Lol
