Rare medium-scale fretless Rob Allen mb-2, in mahogany and curly maple, with a lined cocobolo fingerboard, thumb rest, and F-Hole.
Rob is no longer doing custom orders; this bass is and likely always will be one-of-a-kind.
This bass plays like a dream, and has a lovely tone through the bridge piezo. As with all of Rob’s mb-2 basses, there is an adjustable tone pot in the control cavity. It's currently strung with La Bella Copper Whites. The old medium scale black tapes will be included, along with another set of new medium scale black tapes (760N). Magnus has a great video of the sounds an mb-2 can make with both the black tapes and the copper whites here.
Traded for this lovely instrument in 2015. It is the one I planned to be buried with; I've used it in a few jazz performances and on a couple of low-key bluegrass gigs. But I haven't played it in over a year--bandmates and studio engineers in both genres simply prefer my upright when that's what's called for--and finance needs must.
Specs with up-charges in parenthesis:
