Up for sale is a mean little monster of a tone machine.
This came to me as a Squier Bronco that at some point had received a non-pro refinish in a satin powder blue. Since then, it has received a bridge upgrade to a threaded-brass-saddle vintage style bridge, tuner upgrade to classic clover style, and a real Hammon DarkStar pickup (pickups that are insanely rare and will fetch $400+ on their own)
Weight is only about 6.6 lbs!
Sounds killer and plays super well. Truss works just fine, frets have no wear, and sets up great! Currently strung up with GHS Pressurewounds that absolutely bark and snarl paired with this DarkStar pickup. Nice even resonance and sustain across the entire fretboard - no deadspots that I can detect and I've returned basses because of deadspots, so I am pretty sensitive to them.
On the cosmetic end of things... I hope you like mojo because this thing is a roadwarrior. When the body was refinished, I think the person who did it was a little overly aggressive with the sanding, so there is some unevenness and areas with dips and divots. Most notably, the corner of the neck pocket was sanded down so the bolt plate appears slightly misaligned and peeks over about a third of a millimeter, but the pocket is tight and 100% solid. The thin blue finish that was applied shows cracking in multiple places and has dings and dents from use. That said, the neck still has the factory satin clear finish, which nice and smooth, with very little wear. Again, there is no structural damage anywhere, this bass is solid as a rock, and all wear 100% is cosmetic. Just going into detail here because photos can't capture everything and I believe in full disclosure. Of course, if you end up not liking the body due to the aesthetics, the rest of the components on their own are worth more than the $400 cost of admission... but I think it would be kind of a shame to change anything because of what a monster player this one is, as-is!
Comes with a like-new, basic Eastwood gigbag.
Only selling because I have a full stable of premium short-scale basses, including a few with original Bisonic pickups, so this one is a bit redundant and doesn't get played much at all.
$400 FIRM + approximate shipping to your location. Payment via Paypal Family and Friends or Zelle. Local face-to-face/cash deals are of course welcome!
Not looking for trades at this time. Thanks!
