On the positive side, Alex has great communication and the bass arrived in exactly the condition described in the ad. That said, he shipped it using the absolute slowest method known to man (USPS Parcel Select), which resulted in the bass arriving 8 calendar days after it was shipped (FedEx or UPS Ground would've taken 3 days, tops). Granted, shipping was included in the price and I didn't specify/request a specific carrier, so part of this is on me.
The biggest issue with this transaction was the fact that Alex put the bass in the least protective and oldest hardshell case imaginable. The latches were all completely rusted, one of them was broken, and the bass was basically bouncing around inside when it arrived. To make matters worse, he didn't bother to put the case inside any other packaging (cardboard box) nor did he use any packing/protective materials whatsoever (bubble wrap, styrofoam peanuts, packing paper, etc.). He just slapped a shipping label on the case and away it went. I'm amazed the bass arrived in such good condition, considering that it could've easily been severely damaged or even stolen (no measures were taken to secure the case at all). Pictures of the case minutes after it was delivered are included below.
Moral of the story: If you buy from Alex, make sure you are clear about your preferred shipping method, and ensure that he packages the item you purchase appropriately.
