I would not go with passive speakers, powered speakers are modern and scalable, set up is a breeze

i owned one, ended up selling to buy the next bass without ever playing it amplified. didn't super bond with the neck, was a bit wide for my tastes, but a beautiful bass. I had the blue version

I have the whistle problem with a BG-100. High pitched, through the speakers, fairly quiet but noticeable in home use. Does not get louder with volume.

Thanks everyone. Should have known peeps in Florida and east coast would know how to deal with swampy heat. It’s a “Dry heat” in my neck of the woods, but still makes ruins the gig for me if I’m uncomfortable.

Here's a cool video with Kai doing the whole thing. I'd like to see him do more.

I, too, have a “Darkwood” Cirrus BXP 5 string that I got as my first foray into five string world. I already had a U.S. Cirrus 4 string but didn’t want to spend the money on a U.S. fiver if it turned out that I couldn’t play it. The BXP was my first bass from Indonesia and the quality blew me away. It sounded very close to my U.S. Cirrus…and since I replaced the preamp with the sweepable midrange Millenium preamp, the sound of the BXP is indistinguishable from my U.S. Cirrus. The neck is not quite as nice as the one on my U.S. Cirrus five string, but it’s still a great neck. I agree, it’s a darn fine bass!

What @DonaldR says is how I do it (albeit on another multi). I have specific presets for every bass I own. I find it the easiest way to swap. I need to mute the multi anyway while I swap instruments and 1 extra tap won't kill me or take up too much time.

If you're not using it you can also try the boost on the drive/ synth section and see if that's enough and doesn't change your tone too much. Otherwise I'd just make another preset and be done with it. It's still only 1 extra tap if you run in memory mode.

Any gig where someone abuses you becauss you’re the bassist…is not going to be outstanding. If someone told me I had to do those things because I’m the bassist, I’d have a good laugh and leave. Life is too short to play with ignorant bullies.

It’s pretty great imo. You can get a cheap knockoff on eBay for 80% less, but I think the original is worth the extra money. Way more solid. No flex. I have both and use both.

Oh, and I am showing my age with this post. When I first saw the thread, the first thought that came to mind was the George Harrison song by the same name:

A +1 on the Zoom Q2n. While it can run for a while on its 2 AA batteries, I use a little 10,000 mAh power bank that will run it for days. Sound is great and you can use it for audio only or to video your band as well.

I must say that the Zoom customer service amazed me. I had a problem with the USB jack and sent itn for service and they sent me the latest model, brand new, for FREE!

This is close to the age of the bolt on neck six that I bought in 1995 and kept until 1998. These are such cool basses! That is the exact same model that I used to have!

Mine are quiet- no hum even when they're not both on and balanced-

They sound all right but not like the ones in my '07 American Standard which do hum if they're not balanced.

I would say that the Corona's seem to have more mid-range frequencies than the ones on my 2007

Sorry for the. vagueness but they tonal differences could have something to do with the necks and finishes- the one on my Mod Shop is a Slim "C" maple fingerboard while the 07 has a modern C and rosewood fingerboard.

The whole purpose of this venture was to be able to switch tone by simply changing the frequency of the mids.

I would suggest to the OP that they first listen (many times) to, and JUST SING the bass note(s) before attempting any theoretical analysis. Even if you can only get the first note of a bassline. ("A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.")
That is the most important and worthwhile skill to develop for any musician, and the more you do it, the better you get at it.

More a 'redefinition' than a mod - started life as a new CIJ '06 '51 P RI -

If anyone's interested, I had Perplexity AI compare and contrast four of the top bluetooth headphones priced in the $200 to $400 range. The ATH-M50x was a clear winner for my needs, especially since it supports LDAC for streaming hi-res audio. Also appreciate @el murdoque's comments about latency. In this case, the cans are for protracted streaming of audio only, not tracking.

5 Watt world usually does videos on guitars and amps but their videos are always well researched and presented. ~ occasionally they cover basses too!

I already swapped two basses out with oem 9pins if i wear these out I will def get the switchcraft regular ones as i have never worn one of those out. thanks
