Tecamp "Bad Cab"...what the???

what in the world is going on with this cab????? i am definitely not a speaker design expert, but ive been doing my homework on loudspeakers lately and this cabinet seems to go against many of the "rules" that i have read about.
-mixing drivers sizes and running them all full range. doesnt this seem like a gigantic waste of energy? what about phasing issues?
-frequency range goes down to 26hz?
-is it just me or is this cabinet WAY too small to support this many woofers????

has anyone tried one of these? the specs on this speaker cab seem way to good to be true. and ive heard that the price tag is astronomical. if Tecamp has discovered some magical way to actually produce 26hz at 105 Db in a 119 pound cab, i want one. but my gut tells me that this thing is a bunch of baloney.... FLAME ON!

Oh, and I'm guessing the cab can do 105 db/W/m, but is down at least 10db by 26hz. It's also possible that 105 is a midbass hump, right above the porting frequency.

I use the amps, but didn't care for cabs. I use a Glockenklang cab.

Wow! That cab looks way cool!

I'd love to hear how it sounds. I bet its a growly low volume pant flapper and a high volume hurricane!

Tecamp, IMO, do make very good equipment. Some of it more 'moderate' and 'sensible', some of it is aimed at those who want insane setups. I think this is the latter. I would love to hear it.

+1 Amazing cabs. The one talked about by the OP is a little sillly, although much of the technical talk about 'what works and what doesn't' on this site is probably accurate in a technical sense, and important for giant PA systems and stereo systems, but hardly worth even thinking about regarding bass backline.

In my 35 years of gigging with every thing from 215 cabs to 410's to vertically stacked 2 x 210's, I've yet to hear any meaningful difference regarding coverage and dispersion as either a listener out in a room or a player.

Assuming the different driver sizes are in their own tuned 'cabs within the cab', this cab (again.. silly, but not much different than the 2 x 15 2 x 410 stacks many used back in the day) will work just fine. That all being said, I again agree with the OP that this cab design is 'over the top' and not representative of the basic, wonderful cabs in their line. Sounds like they were having a bit of fun with the metal heads!

Also, their cabs actually are as light as they say. My 212, which totally kills, is not much bigger than most 210's and is 39 pounds!!!!! And, it sounds so good that I use it as my 'reference recording rig'. Amazing stuff if you can afford it... nothing magic, just very well executed, lightweight gear.
