How many of you use a straight razor?

What do you use to shave?

Not quite a straight razor, but I shave with my pocket knives. Spydercos, Swiss Army Knives, Buck's etc. Sharpen them on a DMT Fine Diamond stone followed by a loaded leather strop then strop on my jeans. Strop to keep the edge up and use a smooth butcher's steel every so often before I take them back to the stone. No need to grind away metal every time the edge loses its bite.

What's with all the shaving threads?

Never heard of the term "safety razor" before. Here, it's simply "razor". And we call the straight ones "shaving knifes".

I use "safety" razors, but those Gillette razors and razor blades are extremely overpriced. 17 € for 4 razor blades are just waaay too much (Gilette fusion, passive version). The ones that runs on batteries are even more expensive... Before this version came out, I thought the mach 3 blades that were 8-10 €/4pcs were expensive.

I have an electric, but it's terrible so I hardly ever use it.

I got sick of the $22 price tag for ten cartridges, I get ten DE blades for $4 and a closer shave. It takes about two minutes longer than with the latest 6 bladed monstrosity.

I use a Dovo straight razor. I used to watch my grandfather shave with a straight, which likely planted the seed. When I began with one (about 10 years ago), I made a fine mess of my face. It took over a year to become proficient, but now I don't miss the rash of an electric or the disposal issues of wet razors. Besides, shaving with a straight bumps your manliness factor up two or three notches.

DO I get one notch for using a razor that actually uses a real razor blade.

I got a Mach 3 free in the mail when I graduated for some reason, so I use that. I don't grow facial hair worth a ****, so I don't have to shave but once a week or so. Blades are $$, but they usually last a while and my dad uses the same razor so I just take his

Electric razor most of the time, razor when I want to look nice.

I'm not pro skillz enough for a straight razor.

EDIT: Shaved once with an exacto-knife blade. That sucked, but I had forgotten to shave and we were on a 2.5 hour school trip to somewhere I had to look better than I did at the time.

lol I just graduated and I don't grow facial hair either....I only shave once a month at most, and since it's summer and I'm not going to college until august, I don't plan on shaving until at least then.
