P/J wiring help. 2 conductor phase issues

Hey guys, I've made a bass with a P/J set up and both pickups sound great on their own but the D and G strings are out of phase when combined.

I've had this problem before with a pbass p'up and I swapped the ires between the coils which solved the problem but this P bass pickup only has 1 wire between the pickup halves and after stripping it I found that it is just 1 wire not 2 in 1 so I can't swap it over.

What can I do?

is there anything I can do to find the wires between each pickup halve and swap them over?

The P bass pickup has 1 hot 1 cold and 1 linking wire.

Please help.

P.s the jazz pickup is a split coil too and appears to have a yellow wire running form one half to the other and a small bear wire running from one half to the other too, the yellow is clearly connecting the 2 halves while the bear wire appears to be connecting the grounds from each half. could this be swapped to solve the problem?

solved my own problem with a little guessing and ingenuity.

If you have a P bass pickup with a single wire going between its' two halves and one half is out of phase with a second pickup this is what you can do:

If you cut the connecting wire and strip it back you will have 2 precision pickup coils, each with their own hot and cold wires.

now you have to solder one half of the pickup in reverse, e.g solder what was the connecting wire to ground and what as the ground wire to the other half of the pickup.

This will remove your phase issues BUT will result in hum from that pickup, much like a single coil produces.

I personally can live with this hum (noise gates are wonderful) and feel the trade off in hum vs being able to use all pickup combos is a good one... at least until I buy a specific P/J pickup set which hopefully won't have these issues.
