Is there anywhere to get the individual 'pole magnets' for the toaster pickup? I have one off an old Rick '73, that I'd like to put on a '78, but it only has three of the magnets intact.

'Poles,' as in this photo:

Also, how can you tell if the treble pickup is designed for the 'horseshoe' covers or the later one that is simply cosmetic?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ...

Those magnetic poles are potted into the pickup - right? Did the old ones fall out? If so, then I'd just look for cylindrical magnets of the same size but I'd probably try to replace them all for balance.
FYI, at one point I replaced the black neck pickup of my 1974 Rick with a toaster and didn't like the tone as much. The toaster is less punchy and distinct sounding. I ended up going back to the black pickup with the 4 pole pieces. That's what Geddy used and I think it was an improvement over the sound of the toaster.
I've got a great condition toaster I'd sell ...
On the treble pickup, good question. I don't know if the coil/ceramic magnet is/was different for the horseshoe assembly vs the plastic cover.

A 73 should have a high gain and not a real horseshoe ... the real horseshoe went away about December 1968 ...

Yes, old magnets fell out. They've been out of the guitar for over twenty years. Any number of things could have happened to them.
