Did something change about the VT Bass DI?

I have one on my board, and wanted to get a second for backup.

Problem was, I couldn’t dial in my sound from the new one. I assumed maybe there was something wrong, exchanged it, and the other had the same issue. A little anemic, a little darker. Even factoring in some knob differences and playing with the EQ, i just couldn’t get the sound of my 5-year-old VT DI on either brand new one.

What’s going on here?

Maybe new ones need breakin period🙂

I don't see any 'new and improved in their marketing: so it is perplexing that newer ones are so perciveally different

Maybe someone has an answer but that won't fix it for you

You can take risk by buying used one similar to age of yours but it may be being hand built and part tolerances make each one subjectivity and subtlety different
