So my band played a local joint right off of the Knoxville strip at a place that shall remain unnamed (for now), and, to say the least, we will never be playing there again. Here's a list of some of the wonderful things we encountered that night:
1. The manager/bartender broke out into a verbal fight with the cook in front of everyone at the bar. She cussed him out, threatened to take him to court, and made verbal threats towards him.
2. This same bartender took her top off in the middle of the bar while people (including young kids) were around. Nice lower-back gecko tattoo, btw.
3. She tried to charge a cover at the door even when we had a contract that said 'no cover'. She started cussing out three of my bandmates while they were telling her she was breaching contract. Twenty-three (I counted) people turned away from the door when they found out there was a cover. Some of those people even had the flier we posted around campus that said 'No Cover'.
4. This same bartender was seen doing lines off of the back counter of the bar - not sure of what, but I'm sure it wasn't a pixy stick.
5. She and another bartender talked crap about my band while we were playing, said we sucked, and said we brought no one out (we actually had around 100 people show up just for us - and that was basically everyone at the bar for that night).
6. A man who works there as a chef (different from the guy the lady bartender yelled at) was telling patrons that we stole mics and mic cables from the bar the last time we played there - we didn't.
7. One of the bouncers got drunk and started verbally threatening myself and two of my friends. He even tried to get the other bouncer to come over and 'take care of us' because we were 'lying about being in/with the band'. Luckily, the other bouncer knows me from school and told the drunk to shut it.
8. The lady bartender tried to stiff us money because we apparently brought them in no customers, which is funny because everyone (and I'm not joking when I say everyone) who was at the bar was there for us. That place is a total dive, has horrible bartenders, and is always out of alcohol. No one goes there because it's a good venue or a good place to drink.
9. While we were packing up to leave, she and two of her drunk employees started yelling at my band and our fans to 'get the **** out'. That's smart - cuss out the people trying to give you money for the night + the people who brought you those people.
10. The lady bartender actually grabbed my guitarist and put him on the phone with the owner of the place just to have the guy cuss out my guitarist about doing a 'crappy job' for the night. He also said our inability to bring out paying customers is going to make it hard for him to feed his baby (which, btw, is the illegitimate son of the lady bartender). My guitarist nicely told him to get bent.
Despite all that nonsense, we played the length of time we were suppose to play, we acted like professionals, we got paid what we deserved, and we're never going back there again

I'm simply sharing my Halloween weekend gig horror story. Also, you should read my last post, as it does clear up some details. The bar wasn't bad when it first opened, and we have had a fairly decent relationship with them up until this last gig. That said, they've been quickly going to the dumps, and we apparently caught them on a bad night.
