1985 Schecter P/J

Hello All,

I am new to this board. I'm an OK guitar player who has learned to play bass on a Squire P-Bass over the past two years. My band is preparing to play club shows and I'm wanting to upgrade to a performance quality bass.

I have a chance to buy this 1985 Schecter Precision Jazz. The google doesn't yield much information on these, at least in the way of reviews. Does anybody have experience playing one?

All I really found out is that Schecter used to make after-market parts for Fenders and custom Fender copies. This one, though, appears to be a production model, not a custom. It is in good to excellent condition with the original Schecter tolex case and purchase card.

Anyone owned/played these in the past? Also what are your thoughts on the asking price of $475. Seems reasonable to me. I'd love some feedback.

buy it........i had an early schecter p/j and foolishly let it go. Thats the one bass I regret parting ways with. It's my understanding that Tom Anderson was 1/2 of the company until roughly 84/85 but was still doing their pickups...at $475, it'll be hard to go wrong.....and its a damn nice looking bass too!

Thanks, Steve. I do like the look of it quite a bit, especially the maple fretboard and tele-style headstock.

The early 80's Schecters far surpass the Fenders of that same era...and many other basses. Grab it. My 80's Schecter jazz sits in it's case right now waiting for a reason worthy of it's mojo.

one piece flamed koa body, one piece birdseye maple neck, EMGs. You can't go wrong with an early '80s schecter bass.
