Maple or Rosewood?

What is the difference between maple and rosewood fretboards?

Advantages/disadvantages on either?

Yes it's the opposite.. Maple fretboard has bright tendency than rosewood

After personally vacillating on this issue for 35 years, I like both! Probably slightly favor maple because it just screams Fender to me and all the early models were maple (basses and guitars alike) but my Fender collection is divided thusly: 7 rosewood/5 maple. Pick what you feel matches the body color better. They all sound good.

Many early strats had rosewood fretboards.

For the rest: it's all about taste.
