In the last couple of days, I just finished up my two project basses, below:
MiM Fender neck
Squier body
SD Quarter Pounder pickup
Hipshot A-style bridge
Tonestyler tone control
Strung with Rotosound Swing, Nickel, .045-.105
Aside from the tonestyler, configuration is conventional.
Almost everything bought in the TB classifieds.
Plays and sounds like a dream. Absolutely loving it so far. Only complaint is that the Tonestyler is underwhelming it has maybe ¼ of the effect that I expected. Ill probably add a d-tuner sometime soon. Further down the road, I might add a second quarter pounder in the bridge position as well.

Dimarzio Model P/J pickups
Hipshot A-style bridge
Hipshot d-tuner
Strung with DAddario Chromes (flats), .050-.105
Wired V/B/T, with the blend set up to be unloaded. Switches are Series/parallel for each pickup.
Its only been complete for a day, but its giving me the sound I was looking for darker, but still with plenty of power and bite, and the switching options give me a wide (but nor overwhelming) range of sounds. Its more of a sledgehammer, compared to the axe of the P with rounds. Amazingly, I got the both the design and execution of the wiring right on the first try (not trivial when you have series/parallel switching going into a blend pot). And I swear I wasnt copying the new Fender Blacktops...I did the refinish back in January
I have one minor issues, which is that the alignment of the strings relative to the neck and pickups is a bit off. It doesnt seem to affect sound or playability, but it bothers me. Ill probably shim the neck to the side sometime soon.
A few observations from this experience:
-The $ spent on Dan Erlewines Guitar Repair book was worth it for the few pages on setup alone.
-Top-loading bridges are the best thing ever
-Pickups only seem to come with about half on the foam that is needed.
This all goes to confirm that I'm better at building basses than playing them...
