Found a really nice sounding and playing bass, well built with great neck, fretboard and fret work. Very resonant and musical, so I thought about giving it some extra work and convert it into something different.
Some details:
Woods are Alder, maple and rosewood
Came out of the Yako factory in China, 2004
Tuners were pretty bad and clanky, and had the rectangular shape closed box.
Originally black gloss finish, it was 3 layers of hard finish - clear, white, red and then gloss black.
And that sticker mark on the pickguard.
Upgrades:
1. New paint
2. New bridge (Fender high-mass)
3. New knobs (Fender original)
4. New pickguard (Fender)
5. Full neck sand-off, removing the yellow and sticky lacquer, then sanding and polishing.
6. New jazz bass style tuners (required drilling for larger holes)
Future upgrades:
1. Nordstrand splits
2. New Graphtec nut
