Rosowood fingerboard or maple fingerboard what do you prefer?

As this thread will quickly devolve into the oft-repeated debate, I'll just say I think maple looks better - and since the choice between rosewood and maple is 99% aesthetic, I choose maple.

I usually go for maple, but it all depends, rosewood just looks better on 70s style jazz basses.

I'm with Harry - I prefer maple, but I'm pretty sure it's largely because of how it looks to me, and what I'm used to. I could say I like the feel "better" than rosewood and that I think it's brighter or cuts through more, but I could very well be fooling myself.

And I'm bi-fingerboardal - I want maple on my fretted, but definitely never maple on my fretless; either rosewood or ebony, instead.

I have 3 rosewood and 1 maple..though I prefer maple these days.

I am a big fan of maple. Even though my main bass has a ebony fingerboard.
I have also see ebanol on frettless basses these days.

I've always prefered rosewood but lately having been really digging my Rick 4004 Cheyenne with the maple board.

This subject comes up a lot around here...

I see you're a newbie so if you do a poll it's a good idea to include the "carrots" option for those who prefer someting else. Not that I'm encouraging another poll on this.

There are very few instances where I actually enjoy the aesthetic of rosewood on a bass, and even fewer when I like it as the fretboard material.

Maple burns a little longer and hotter, but rosewood makes the dogs a bit tangier.
