So today, inspired by a killer Tele Bass on Ebay, I went and bought a Squier VM TB. As you probably know, it's a nice, shiny sunburst guitar with a cool tone and a nice neck, but the neck is stark white, has crappy tuners, poor quality mini pots, etc.. Well, I was originally going to strip it down and refin it in Sonic Blue, but I decided to go the complete opposite direction.
Now it has upgraded pots, tuners, cap, jack, a new nitro paint job (yes, it can be done FAST if you have figured out a few tricks - after decades of refins I've learned a couple !
), a nicely tinted neck, and a whole new attitude !
I'm sure some of you will hate it, and that's ok. I'm not trying to make anyone else but myself happy. And before people complain about the decal, keep in mind that every part of this bass except the capacitor is Fender brand, from the pots to the tuners to the nut. Everything.
Anyway, earlier today it looked like this :
