I'm surprised. I know a lot of guys here hate relic basses. I just look at it as another art form.

Thanks ! I like it a ton better now. Better tuners, better pots, a usable tone control, the nitro finished neck feels better, etc. Heck, I even reshaped the neck and smoothed out where the neck meets the headstock - that "hard line" of some less expensive necks (Squier, Mighty Mite, etc) always bugs me.
Gee, I hate to be the lone dissenter; I'm certainly not against relic robs, and you certainly did a good job of it, but I liked the look of it better beforehand. Oh well. Play it in good health.
Well, like I mentioned, every part except the capacitor is genuine Fender. (Special thanks to Steve at Angela !) Its more Fender than lots of the "Fenders" out there !
One thing I've always done with relics is used a few improvised parts. Changing one tuner on a Tele, mixing screws, etc. If you think about it, a big portion of vintage instruments, especially the ones that have been played a lot have had a few alterations or repairs. Often these repairs are done with makeshift parts or just "whatever is available".

Job well done. I really like the way that looks. I recently picked up 51 P reissue that I would like to something similar to do. How did you strip off the poly finish?
Hey, no problem ! I respect people's opinions. I respect them even more when they are able to give their opinion and not "disrespect others opinions" while doing it. That's sometimes hard to find on a message board.

The Poly is still there. Fender would occasionally spray colors over sunburst, so that's what I did. I roughed up the poly burst (so the primer would sick better), shot primer, smoothed it out, and then shot the nitro coats.
