I'm wanteing a fender P-bass. I'd like to know which would be better for the bass sound and strength. I'm wanting a good deep sound. What do you guys think.
Normally I'd say rosewood, but I'm beginning to lean more towards the fingerboard-wood-doesn't-make-that-huge-a-difference-in-the-long-run side of things, in which case I'd say get whatever looks better to you and then eq your amp accordingly to get the tone you want.
I generally go with aesthetics on this issue. I usually play through enough pedals that the inherent differences between rosewood and maple are almost nil.
