What bass has the worst price to value ratio?(way overpriced)

Alembics come to mind. . . they can be works of art and many may argue that they take long hours and skilled craftmanship to make, but in terms of sound, and resale value, there are many basses that sound a lot better, feel better, are better designed ergonomically, and cost thousands less.

Let the battle begin.

I would say Alembic, Fodera, and Ritter simply because they are all $5000+ instruments that largely cost that much because of aesthetic reasons, not actual improvements in sound and playability. The flip side is that it appears that all three of those brands have incredible resale value, which is something that most "great value basses" like G&L or Peavey do not have.

IMHO...

I think the crap that Fender is spewing out..

the reissues.. the sigs ...the relics the custom shop stuff and the 500 other versions of basses is way too much $$$ for the instrument you get in return...
I see no value in these instruments..
just Fenders mass marketing power at work...

they look great but the prices are insane.... bad resale too

In the boutique market, I don't think Sadowsky is overpriced. I've never heard of a NYC Sadowsky running more than $4,000, or slightly more than 3X the price of a deluxe MIA Fender five string. The Metros are only hundreds more than the most expensive MIA Deluxe Fenders.

Is 3250 too much to pay for some wood and some circuit boards and strings ??

I have to come to Sadowskys defense...

his basses are slightly high but he also does a tremendous amount of R & D,
has a staff to pay..
rent and
materials which are all top notch...

The last time I checked there was a 6 month wait

Obviously mobax was kidding and posted his remark on purpose because the issue of Sadowskys being overpriced has been discussed to death. . .

I think Sadowskys are worth every penny, but on the other hand, I sold mine and bought a Fender, a Musicman, and put $500 in the bank. :smug:

+1!!! These are terrible basses with horrible fretwork. I can imagine Mike Tobias wishes his name were not on those basses.:rollno:

I wouldn't disagree with you. My post was inspired by the many "Sadowsky is overpriced" comments I've seen on this forum. :cool:

Agreed. Gibson should just do the right thing and stop using his name...
