Apparently Carvin has decided to discontinue their Redline series of amps and cabs. The are absent from their newest catalog and have been replaced by an entirely new series called BR for the combos and BX for the heads. There are a few different configurations of combos, a 1200 watt stereo head, a mono head and the usual range of separate cabs. The BR's share some of the Redline's features, like built in compressors and switchable graphic EQ's. The website doesn't reflect the change yet. Carvin still offers all of the BRX line, though. I'm sure that many of you don't care, or have had bad experiences with them, but I will miss the Redlines. Any thoughts?

No More Redlines (Carvin)

I had a RL1000 with a Red-Eye 4x10 and a 1x18 and LOVED it. For the $, I don't know if there is a better head. Plenty of power, lots of great features, and very versatile and shapable tone. They're not in the same league as the Pro series Ampegs etc, but Carvins are definitely a great value.
The new combo's look really good. They look like winners!
Looks like dumb spring loaded handles though.
The kb combo amps look just like a the combo bass amps but with a head change. I need more than a single input so these look really good.

It's the end of an era. The Redlines have been in production for a long time, and in fact have outlasted a number of other of the more sophisticated Carvin signal-processing gear that was in some ways ahead of its time (thus ahead of its market), and hence was discontinued quite a few years ago...
With the current trend toward simpler, plug-and-play gear, I suppose this was bound to happen. Yet I also know that what goes around, comes around. Sooner or later, the more sophisticated stuff will make a resurgence. That's why I'm hanging onto at least one of my Redline RSP bass rackmount pre-amp units...

I'm another who was thoroughly unimpressed with the redline series heads. Mine never broke down on me, but seemed underpowered and just didn't have decent tone.

People who wave the Carvin flag, are folks who can't re-sell their Carvin gear. Unreliable, cardboard toned poop. Or at least that's been my experience.
If I can save one high school kid from buying one of their amps, I feel I've done the bass community a service.

i'm not going to miss them. the b1500 is the baddest solid state head i've ever heard/owned. Its absolutely brilliant

Actually, I think the whole Redline series was crap. I never heard one I liked the sound of. I am curious to hear the new BRX line, which seem to be getting great reviews.

Everyone else that has said they had bad experiences with the Redlines at least have given an explanation. That's valid, IMO. Really, I don't care if you love or hate them, but let's hear why. That's what a forum is for......sharing experiences and ideas. People that bash on a product without any first-hand experience with said product, aren't really contributing anything, right? Anyway, never mind. I'm done.

I've done a couple of fill-in stuff for friends' bands where the backline was Carvin Red-Line stuff. T'was crap.
