Nothing but a 1X12 with a little cutting, and some work with a rasp. I used oak, because that's what was available in the size I needed. Poplar, or sanded or better ply would be fine.

I dunno how I'm gonna add padding. Leather, sheapskin, neopreen...?

I was just gonna rattle-can it black, but it seems a shame to cover up the oak, so I may go with stain.

Of course you'll need a tall cab, or cabs, and a heavey amp.

Dude take that down IMMEDIATELY and properly register that design/concept with the patent office. NOW. Then, apply for a grant through your local cultural resources counsel to help refine and perfect your idea.

I am absolutely serious.

That is pure genius. You should protect a cool idea like that ASAP or you'll kick yourself the rest of your life when you see it in musicians friend for 20 bucks a pop a million times over.


If you do sell a million, remember who nudged you to do it.

You are indeed wise. But, I just don't have the time or resources to do all that. So, TalkBassers make all you want for personal use.

Yup, that's a Sarzo. I love me some Peavey gear.

these days with product design its more a case of getting the design manufactured at the right price and quickly .... registering is a waste of time since you wont be able to carry it through anyway even if you did have a case.

Yeah it needs padding. I'm still in the early design stages. I haven't decided on what to pad it with yet. Some kind of hose from an auto parts store? Dip it in plastic?

I like to think of this as open source hardware.

Sure I could add adjustability, but that would complicate the design. I like this design, BECAUSE it is dirt simple. And, as it is so simple, anybody, who is just a little handy, can make one in whatever size they want.

No wait; I wanna add a drawer, and cup holders, and compressed air fittings to hold the hooks so they can be snapped off, and a tuner, and some hooks for instrument cables. Ok.. I was thinking of cable hooks.

I also had made my own bass hangers out of wood (3/4'' plywood) with quarter rounds to create the angle. and I lined the slot for the bass with felt and 1/4' thick foam rubber under the felt. Mine sit on the speaker and the weight of the amp holds them in place. I can use two such hangers with my current set-up (you need a stack tall enough and a heavy enough head). Definitely saves on stage space and I can very quickly change basses (my normal load is a fretless 5 and a fretted 4). Each bass keeps its own strap and they plug into a switching device I made that was modified from a Craig Anderton design. In the thumbnail, my Pedulla is hanging from one while the other is empty and my Carvin sits in one of my handmade floorstands (also felt covered rubber lined).

Hi.

Cool design.

Most of the "inventions" one comes up with are a couple of decades old, but that IMO doesn't reduce their value a bit.

I did couple of single ones in the 80's, had only one bass so there was no point in a twin :)

Some finishes can act funny when combined with certain materials, nitrocellulose being amongst the most sensitive I think. I once had an Heritage 535 Nat (a guitar, sorry:hiding: ) that stuck to my jeans when playing seated.

But You're hangin 'em only during gigs, right?
