Intonation screws for Leo Quan Badass II

I'm looking for the exact screws that fit my Badass II, but SHORTER, by 1/2" to 3/4". I know that the thread size is #6-32, but the size of the head matters as well; it has to fit inside the hole in the bridge.

I want them shorter because I want to use my Ernie Ball Mute Noodle on a certain bass, and the extended screws interfere with my preferred placement (close to the saddles).

Is there a name for this screw head? Is it proprietary? Will I just have to grind down the screws I have? Or does what I'm looking for already exist?

Your local Ace Hardware (if you have one) sells those headless grub screws. Take one out of your bass to use for matching, and buy a couple the same size but shorter. See if they work the way you want them to, and then buy the rest that you need.

A big box hardware store might have it but I'd stake the likelihood as pretty low. If you've got a family-run shop with old guys in baseball caps shooting the breeze at the counter all day, somebody there will know exactly what you need.

The screw on the left is the short screw that comes with Masskicker Bridge by Hipshot.
The screw on the right is from an original Badass ll. They are interchangeable.
I would contact Hipshot.

You can get almost any hardware at McMaster-Carr (mcmaster.com). The prices are high, but it’s available. Sometimes that’s ok.

If you are replacing the intonation screws and not the saddle height grub screws, consider socket hex head rather than Phillips. Much better control.

I once fixed a Schecter with a socket head cap screw, they have sort of a narrow barrel head with hex insert.

Thank the stars for McMaster-Carr. It's pricey, but if hardware exists they sell it and they keep it in stock. They are the Dunkin Donuts of manufacturing, we run on McMaster-Carr.

If you have one of these electrical tools it includes cutters for 6-32 screws. Just screw it in to the length you want to trim and SQUEEZE. Might need to clean up the tip afterwards but they work well especially for these smaller size ones.
