I played this bass today and I cannot fathom how they are asking this price for this bass! It's insane!!! It's impossible!!! This bass plays beautifully! The tone controls shape the tone superbly and the B string is not flappy and the action is nice and low.

I don't get it. I guess Squier has something to prove! I think Squier is now the new MIM line!

I've got an Affinity P Bass by Squire, and it's proven to be an excellent platform for me starting to play. I bought that and a 15 watt amp (below) for $140 Canadian. Might have been the best way to spend that money!

I'd recommend a Squire any day.

I own Sadowskys, Fender MIAs and Stingrays and still believe the Squier VM line is the best value bass line available. Much better than SX, Jay Turser, etc. IMO.

My Squier Jazz VM fretless was under $300 new and blew away my MIM Jazz Fretless. I sold the MIM as I had no use for it.

If I start hosting jam nights again, I will be buying a VM fretted Jazz fo sho.

The Squier line that has been getting a majority of the raves is the "Vintage Modifed" line which includes both basses and guitars. A little more pricey, but worth it (IMO).

I own two Vintage Modified basses; the Jazz and Telebass. I have no complaints about either bass. In fact, I like them so much, I'm thinking about adding the VM Precision.

I had a Squire Affinity strat and it did sound like crap, it played very well though so I threw in a MIM loaded pickguard that I got off of ebay for cheap and the guitar rocked after that, it was night and day.
My new affinity jazz kicks a** just the way it came. here's a short vid I made right after taking out of the box.

+1, my VM Fretless was nicer than my MIM fretless, till I moded the Fender with a fretted neck, new tuners, roller string tree, moved the bridge back a quarter inch(so that the saddles don't sit under the heavy wind of the string), and a full shield job. Making it too different to compare really, its also strung BEAD, thats why the bridge moved.

I have the VM Fretless, and the DJAV, I had some trouble with the electronics, Fender comletly replaced them, now it rocks!

BTW, the new Indonesian Squiers are manufactured by Cort, thats why the are so good!

I bought this Squire Precision 5 string and after putting on a set of D'Addario Chromes am very pleased with the tone I'm getting, deep and rich, great blues bass!

Yup!! I've owned two of the Conklin Rocco Prestia Editions, also made by Cort. My Jazz 5 active is the same high quality. You can tell they came from the same factory. I would go as far as saying the Squier VM P is the best bass under 1K. With a new set of strings and a pro setup, I would say it SOUNDS better than the Fender Am Std P Bass. The Am Standard's build quality has a little more hand finisihg and better components which would be expected in that price range.

Also IMHO, I wouldn't put the Affinity series in the same league with the new Cort Factory, Indonesia models. :hmm:

yeah, what up with that telebass? i've not heard much about that one, but it looks gorgeous.
