trace elliot (on sale)

Mike -
This looks like a killer deal. My guess is that Peavey imported too many of this T.E. model, and due to the economy they have not sold well. Instead of paying for the warehousing, they've decided to take a loss to make room.

I have not personally checked out the new Trace Elliot gear, but I'm confident that it's top notch. Clive Roberts and several of the T.E. crew from the 80's and 90's have been involved and are partailly responsible for the resurrection of Trace, so I'd jump on this if you're thinking about it. The original Trace gear was absolutely killer, so no doubt this should also be a good product.

Did Peavy buy trace?

I just got my TE 715, and.........
I have to send it back for an exchange:crying:
It's got a static sound when I let the notes ring out. It's just not right:confused: I think i'll really like it when I get a good one. It's built like a tank. Everything feels high quality and it looks super. Comes with a cover for it and a nice 4-button footswitch.
So, i'll have to wait to really give it a good review.
What a bummer:(

I got mine today, got static noise. I'm going to return It :hmm:
Wondering if this is related to the low price ?:hmm:

Also thanks for the tip-off on the lack of tweeter control. That's a deal-killer for me. I was going to get one today, but I want that sucker turned OFF and fortunately saw your post in time.

In my country we have the same deal on 715 and I didn't buy it for the same reason. The bigger brother 715X has tweeter control but it's very expensive.

I think that maybe 715 is going to be discontinued that is why it is on clearance sale.

Well, I just got my second TE 715, and...........
I don't know:confused: It's still a loud amp(operating wise). There is that buzz, which I could probably live with, but when I play certain notes at higher volumes(d on the A string), it sounds like the cabinet is going to rattle apart. I'm very disappointed in TE. This has to be a design flaw, and for a $1000 combo, there is NO escuse for it. It really sucks, 'cause at lower volumes, it sounds pretty darn good, but that rattling/static will drive me mad:mad:
So much for a good deal:hmm: More trouble than it's worth. Anyone get a good one?
