Crazy 8-string Conversion?

I know what you're thinking... but it was not my intention at all to copy that logo, it was more rooted in my personal beliefs.
It is indeed a modded GT7, bridge custom-made by Hipshot.
The string spacing is a narrow 14mm - my idea was that as I was using my GT7 to do chording (apart from the usual basslines), a tighter spacing would make playing much easier, and in that respect it is definitely a success. The fact that I have an extra high-A string makes it possible for me to play more complex chords too.
It is still possible to slap as long as you stay aware that the spacing is narrow - it's easy to pop the wrong string at first, but after a few minutes you get accustomed to the spacing and all is well. Having said that, I will probably use my Yamaha TRB6 for the funky stuff, and this one more for fingerstyle and chords.

I had thought about doing that with my GTBD-7 a while back but decided id rather put the money towards a custom. Very cool.

Thanks for the comments. I think if I were ever to get a similar custom made, I'd get one with the narrow spacing on the high strings (13-14mm), and a slightly wider spacing (15-16mm) on the low strings.
This might be the way to make that 15-string bass idea playable...
