Greetings all

I'm new on the DB side of Talkbass. I just bought my second EUB, a NS design CR5m and want to share with you some soundclips I just recorded...Just to know what you think about this "hybrid" sound. Hope this thread is at the right place.

First of all, your English is fine.

The bass sounds quite "fretless slab"-y to my ears. That's not a bad thing...in fact, I'd consider one of these if I needed a fretless sound, since I enjoy basses that point towards the sky versus basses that point towards the horizon :smug:
It sounds pretty organic and growly. I certainly wouldn't mind having one in my arsenal. My current needs dictate that my EUB sonically mimics a double bass, so I use an Azola for road work. But the NS sounds nice in its own right.

I used it to record all tracks on Amy Hanaali'i Gilliom's release entitled "Pu'uhonua", in 2001. If you go to Link Removed, you can hear it on a couple of sample clips. You can also see a blurry pic of my shining head onstage in the photos section, behind the infinitely more attractive Amy, taken while on tour in Japan (I'm playing a real DB in that pic, graciously provided by the Japanese promoters).

I listened to the 2 samples. the first , with those long sustained notes in the bassline allows to hear in detail the sound of your EUB . it sounds really different compared to the Ns, there's also this little fretless bass side (I guess we can't avoid it on a solid body instrument) but it's fine in the mix !
