bass could come with rosewood or maple fingerboard but what ares the differences between these tow kind of fingerboard

rosewood vs maple fingerboard

For my money, rosewood is a softer wood, and gives you more "warmth" in your sound (if you play a fretless rosewood board with roundwound strings, you'll see much of it on your fingers after playing). Maple is a harder wood, and gives you a brighter sound, especially appropriate for a slap technique.
Other woods in the guitar as well as electronics help to balance these qualites as well as enhance them.

People have been seriously hurt for asking this very question. It seems to bring out the nasties in TBers.
This thread will end up being 109 pages long and end up with horrible name calling. That being said, maple has a snappier and brighter high end and rosewood is mellower and rounder (darker sounding)
Oops it slipped out, I couldn't help myself. Any moment the philosophy students/bassists are going to be posting questions like what the definition of maple is and if a rosewood finger board falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, is it really mellower than maple?
Don't bother asking Rodger Sadowsky for help, they will lynch him too!

So, if Jaco's bass had had the maple fb he wouldn't have had to epoxy it and he'd still be allive?

Get whichever you like the looks of better. I've heard people funk the $#!t out of rosewood and rock the $#!t out of maple so i wouldn't say that you have to choose your neck based on your style. There might be a small difference but when you get right down to it, its not that big of a deal.
