I posted a while ago about finally taking the SX plunge and walked you through my little adventure of doing a complete setup and pickup swap. This is the one, just for reference.

Well I guess I'm posting this as a little update on how I still love it and think it's a kickass bass. For the record, I have a skyline 55-01, a parts-constructed jazz bass, and this SX. Guess which one's my main axe? The SX plays and sounds the best to me; I don't care what the price difference is. I did post some clips before, but I figured the ratio of requested sound clips to actual sound clips on TB is a little small. I don't think too many people would object to more sound clips, eh? :) So anyway, these first two are run through my BP50 pedal with a bit of distortion and played with a pick. The pickups are Dimarzio model P and model J.
(SX-P is P pickup soloed and SX-PJ is both pickups.)

I was just wondering. I am a few months away from getting one of these P basses, what size pickguard, ex American P bass, 62 P bass, etc... did you use for replacement. Everyone is about changing out the pickguards, myself included, and any advice would be great. I know I could just take the pickguard off and send it to be done custome, but I would rather get the bass then head up to a local music store and grab a pickguard to put it on that day. I don't want to wait after I get it.

The bass actually came with the black pickguard. Earlier when rondo had that bass it was pictured with the black pickguard but said it shipped with a white one. I was thinking, why would they tease you with such a nice color combination and not have the bass actually be that way? Luckily they switched over to selling it as displayed. I've heard different things about pickguard replacements. From what I understand, you can buy a standard P pickguard but you'll have to drill new holes in the bass since the screw locations are different.

Well. I had a chance to lisyen to your grove and then cried. I am not worthy. J/K, just different styles I guess. Anywho, I think you have helped me make up my mind as to which bass to get. Thanks.
