Alleva-Coppolo 5 String - Live video with Paul Turner of Jamiroquai

Yeah that Alleva Coppolo LG5 was at the NAMM show.... at the aguilar booth.. Paul and i were talking about that bass all day.. he wound up with it.. It was Dave boonshofts baby.
It has a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard.. and oldgrowth Alder body, with Nitro finish in Olymic White with matching headstock and the new Alleva Coppolo 66 styel fender tuners.
It is pretty light too.. punchy as all heck..(edit the bass was not at NAMM this year.. it was dave boonshofts of aguilar personal AC.. Paul got another Maple neck Gold AC bass but traded with Dave for the one in the video)

yeah those Brits know how to put bass in the mix.. I did tour a few years ago with an older Brit soundman, the brits put that bass right up front.. not like some other guys that ,make bass a second thought to an over bearing kick drum..
Yeah it is a good mix.. and that Alleva sound like an old fender bass ...
I like the way the Brits mix the vocal back in the mix.. I think it draws you into the track better than it being in your face.

yes i remeber when the letterman show had good sound.. the bass was real up front.. it isnt happening anymore.. i was in the audience for the letterman show last year and even the house sound was wishy washy... the bass was not punchy the way it used to be.. just boomy..
The Paul Turner bass sound is very good for a live mix in this video

 One of the best sounding vids I've heard. Thanks for the link. Any idea of what his rig consists of??
I spoke with paul about his rig.. he was using the Ridge Farm Industries Gas Cooker DI and an Aggy Db750.. forgot the cabs.. He just recently got the REDDI DI..I have been wanting one of those for a while and am going for it next week after SXSW..
What you are hearing on that video is the gass cooker into whatever compression and post production eq they used.. that bass was a real good one.. and it was light in weight too.. i hate when someone beats you to the punch... it was dave from aguilars but paul grabbed it from what i was told... just paraphrasing here..

Thanks! I just sounds sooooo damn good and sits in the overall mix perfectly.
