Reasonable tech in Nothern NJ?

Hey! :)

I recently bought an amp, that, unfortunately, got damaged in shipment. :bawl:

The amp is oscillating (motorboating) when plugged in. I tried 2 different cabinets, different wall sockets, cables.. And it happens with absolutely no instrument plugged in. It happens even through the line out. Is it a capacitor problem?

Anyhow, I live in Nothern NJ (Passaic county) and I'm trying to find a tech that could fix it up, but I'm not even sure where to start, and the one place I did call quoted $100+~ which is a painful price considering how the amp itself cost about that much! (It's an Ashdown MAG 300H).

Any advice of where to go/what to do would be greatly appreciated. :D I'd really hate to send the amp back to the seller. He's a really cool/supportive guy here, so we're trying to figure out how to get it fixed. :)

Looks like I'm going to have to take a road trip, a lot of these places are pretty far from me. :) I'm in Paterson, NJ specifically. Sucks not having a car!

Thanks for all the help though.

Since Dave's Sound may be too far for you, call the GC in Totowa and ask for Dr. Joe. He is the Guitar Tech. If he can't help, he could probably tell you someone local who could. He should be there Saturday, if not earlier.
Good luck.

Does he own Joe's guitar shop in Saddle Brook, or is that a different Joe? :D
