I'll be joining as soon as I find a deal on a Darryl Jones 5. When I wasn't looking, they seemed to be all over, now that I am looking and ready to buy, I can't find what I'm looking for.:hmm:

Hey guys,

finally this thread was "restarted", as I just couldn't get myself to read the entire +1.000 posts...! But now I'll share some pics of my Lakland - it's a serial# 479 fretless, and it's quite different from the newer models in some aspects, specifically the neck, which is the smoothest, I've ever touched, and the sound, which is much more natural and punchy than the newer ones, which sound a bit artificial to me. This one of course has push/pull preamp bypass, and I wouldn't want it any other way! If you want the singing tone, you have to go passive, but active you get more punch from this than what should be possible with a fretless!

I just got a job in Beijing yesterday, so I'll be moving here permanently from Denmark, and then I might need to downsize my collection - anyone has a qualified estimate of what I could sell this one for (if I really have to, that is)?

I never posted in the original thread, but I love my Lakie.

Thanks, guys...! I really love this bass, but I think I can only bring one bass to Beijing, and I might choose my Fodera. Also, I need some cash, as moving there from Denmark isn't cheap, so I think I'll have to sell this one :(

I know I'll regret it, but does anyone have a good idea of what I could sell it for? If I can't sell it locally (Laklands are extremely underestimated in Denmark!), I might put it on eBay, but I just hate their fees...!

Really...? Even if it's from before the USA/Skyline division...? Well, I guess that info is included in the fact that it's a 4-94... :cool:

Well, I can't make ends meet if I let it go for less than $2,000, so if that's the case, I'll hold on to it. It's a wonderful fretless, the best I've ever played ! :D

I might put it on eBay.uk for a week, because with our tax levels the prices here are 20-30% higher than in the US.

I guess I need to get in....this one started it's life as a fretless, but went back to Chi-town to get some frets...Lakland did a total neck swap for $100 + my neck almost a year later.....great customer service...love Lakland....jones for a 44-02 or, dare I dream, a 4-94.

Thanks Chris. I wanna get a JO5 or DJ5 and leave it passive. I think the passive w/single coils would sound pretty different than the Barts w/J-Retro.

I'd love to have a Black JO5 w/maple.
