Last weekend, a friend and I had the opportunity to visit the F Bass factory in Hamilton. I had an afternoon gig about 15min. away so it worked out perfectly. It was also great that George Furlanetto was available on a Saturday afternoon to speak with us, show us some killer basses and give us a fantastic walk-through of the F Bass facility. Anyways, my visit was mainly to pick up some new F Bass strings and an F bass strap as I am now a sucker for all things F Bass. Mitch Starkman warned me about the inevitable GAS attack that would ensue if I went to the factory.........needless to say he was absolutely right.
The different Fs that I played were tremendous. The Alain Caron six that I played was truly the most inspiring fretless bass that I have ever played. George's gracious tour was wonderful as well. Seeing so many Fs in production clearly shows that George and company are at the top of their game. The factory floor is impressive and finely tuned, the different stages of production demonstrated the flawlessly executed skills of George's team. The final stage of the tour was the assembly room and the sights in there were breath taking for certain! It was a great visit and I had a blast playing the Alain Caron 6!
