So again I have distortion pedal soundclips for you. Check them out and if you want to compare pedals, I've got clips up for several other distortion pedals on this forum, just search for threads posted by me. I recommend you listen to all of these samples to give you an impression of how the pedal responds to playing technique, which to me is an important parameter in picking a dirtbox.

After I've had a little time to gather my thoughts about this pedal, here is what I concluded.

I like the way the pedal responds well to various playing techniques and I like it's tonal color. It's mean, has good bottom (too much in fact) and good dynamics.

There's two things I don't like about this pedal though. One, it's extremely buzzy with it's distortion, which you can probably tell from the clips. Two, the distortion does not sustain. This is not the pedal for singing leads, but it's pretty great for more staccato playing.

It's awesome that you post these files, but...

For some reason assboglin, whenever you post audio files I can't hear them. I get a "playlist format not recognized" error, or something similar.

I get this on my Mac at home, and my linux box at work. Is there something I can download to fix this???

It's odd, all my files are .wav format, so it wouldn't make sense for some of them but not all of them to work... maybe you could try installing a different browser as well, either mozilla or explorer perhaps, and see if that works for you. Just another thought.

While that's not as smooth a dirt box as a Bassdrive, it is certainly a very usable stomper. I used to have one, sold it to get my Bassdrive...the EBS is killer, but the Fulltone suites me better.

One little thing that tweaked me about the EBS - there is a tremendous amount of treble roll-off with that thing. EBS is probably trying to compensate for the wide-spread use of horns and tweeters, but I don't think that I have ever heard a overdriven bass signal through a cab with a horn (or not turned off) that I liked. Thus, I probably would like it more if they had left the high end in more and allowed the users to figure out how to turn off those tweeters.

Right. I run the pedal on the blend of an Xotic X Blender, and I can run the blend full but with some attenuation of the lows to tame them back to normal and some boost for the treble, this is what you hear in the clips, but it's still not a bright pedal by any means. The rolloff of the highs didn't bother me as much about this pedal because I have a pretty bright sound to begin with, but I can definitely see where it's a problem for others.
