I started with a Cerwin Vega 18" folded horn with Peavey Head; Didn't have a clue how they worked/projected sound
First gig for me to hear myself on stage standing close to cab volume was massive into room vibrating bottles of the shelves and torturing patrons
So even though Acoustic was as you described IMO
I was worried so went with SVT- 810 but keep and used Cerwin Vega; no FOH for bass back then and many Long Island Clubs were large 1 to 2k capacity so seemed sensible to me
