Whats all the criticism abot this bass.....I dont think that if its made of wood it is better. if its sounds good it is good!!!
This bass is much lighter than the solid maple bass I played before. It has great mid range and low end tone. The action is low and fast with hardly any fret buzz. The bass contour is great and very comfortable to play. In my opinion the body style is nice . It has two ibanez active soapbar pickups and active 9v preamp w/ 3band eq. This bass is very flexable with a great slap sound or good low end. PLUS ITS THE MOST VERSATIL!!!
Try it before stupid quotes and cheap criticism

As long as you love it is all that matters. Everyone has their own taste and preference in sound.

I think the last part of your message sounds like it's goading people into making comments they may not necessarily make.

Beyond that, congratulations on the bass.

I own three of them (two EDB-500s, and a EDC-710). They're awesome basses. I used one of the EDB-500s as my main bass for probably six years. It's easily got the best action/neck/playability of my basses (and I'm up to 7 now). I will never sell it. I use it now as my backup, only because I like the tone of my LTD a little better. Otherwise, the bass is incredible. And I only paid $300 for it brand new.

One of my first basses was an EDC 700. I actually still have it, though it never gets played. I can't get any money out of it and figure I'll just keep it in case my kid gets interested in a few years.

It's actually a great bass in terms of inexpensive basses, especially for beginners. Extremely versatile electronics, nice thin neck, good tone. Sustain is a little weak. Output is a little low. Strings seem to be higher toward the high register (maybe the neck needs shimmed).

I think the thing is that there were a lot of different Ergodyne models. My EDC was pretty decent, but I have played at least a couple of other models that I didn't really care for.

I still have my EDA905, i think its a great bass.

Great for when im looking for a unique tone :) , im currently trying to find a fretless one, which is prooving a hard search!

If you like it, then get it. I've not been a fan of ibanez's synthetic instruments. I owned a talman guitar for a while. Still one of my favorite looks, but tonally, it was dismal. It did a great job combining the thinness of a strat with the lack of jangle of an LP. It was like the worst of both worlds.
