I would like to see if we can establish a sticky for speaker reconers. It is a topic that comes up every so often. There are web resources where you can get a list of reconers - but who the heck know's if they are any good ?

Not sure if this will make sticky status or not - if not then maybe I'll bottle it up in html and hang it off my web space and put a like in my Sig

Ideally you would send me the

I think this should be kept to folks that we have actually done business with. I for instance have used J&J and Inner Sound and feel comfortable with the recommendation based on personal experience.

I'm very comfortable with Orange County as I have a close, trusted associate who has had multiple good experiences there.

I have heard good things about Ted Weber - but not having done reconing business with him - not having that close trusted associate who has actual experience - I would not personally make the recommendation. Ted Weber by the way is out of the reconing biz until he finds and trains a new reconer ...

So none of the typical web style 'my cousin's brother Bobby's bass player's girlfriend the organist mentioned that her dad the guitarist for the Screamin' Meemies' say she thinks this Joe guy is really the dope in speaker repair, eh ?

Let's keep it real in other words.

If perchance there is a reconer in your region - that you have done biz with but have not had a good experience with - let's just leave 'em off the list ...

I've realized that this thread is going to get out of hand ...

Please PM me the deet's and I'll drop 'em into another post in this thread. If you want me to include you as the referral source, lemme know that and I'll drop in a byline.

The following are reconer's that TB'ers have had positive experience with. Should you need reconing services - these are the folks that your TB brothers and sisters would recommend over a beer! That of course means that TB itself has no interest in the recommendation and bears no responsibility for the recommendation either...

No web page.

Warranty service for all the big names - JBL, EV, EAW, PAS, Dean Markley, etc. Also work on pretty much anything else, and stock parts. I have used them about 5 times over the last 15 years, and always timely, always reasonable, and always impeccable work.

Glad I did a search and found this old thread which lead me to J&J here in Chicago. My old SWR Redhead 10" drivers were in need of a recone and now sound fab once again. Highly recommended.
I need to replace 3 of my 10" from a Carvin Redhead. On their site they are $49 each w/free s&h for exact replacements. Wonder if I can upgrade to
