Interesting... looks like the F1 with semi-parametric mids... is that correct?

The fixed mids on the F1 and LMII are voiced so nicely that this doesn't really float my boat (i.e., I don't really feel the need for changing the 'set' middle frequencies on the LMII and F1, but I'm sure it would be a positive for some (especially DB guys who seem to need more control of certain mid freq's for feedback, etc.

I can't tell what the last knob is... does this have a tube in the pre?

mybee the Name F-500 derrives from the F-1 and the R-500, flat as the F-1 sounds like the R500...

who knows?

The F500 is one of the prototypes we showed at NAMM.

It has the same preamp, poweramp, size and weight as the F1... but it adds semi-parametric mids, line out level control, mute (push-pull master), and pre/post EQ control.

It was very well received at the show. What do you guys think?

NICE!

Just IMO, but the mid controls of the F1 are voiced so nicely that to me, the concentric knobs on such a small amp are more of a negative than the additional of the semi parametric mids. The knobs are a little small already... I can't imagine concentrics. Just IMO there.

The additional of the mute and pre/post EQ control is GREAT. I wouldn't have much need for the line out volume control, since any decent board would have enough volume and pad control for any decent signal.

So... addition of the mute and pre/post switch is GREAT. I'd like to see that, along with a second speakon, the next version of the LMII also.

Looks great. I actually have use for the parametric eq on my SD800. The mute and lineout level are also great. So there isnt any room for a tube in there?:)

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the update. I think the semi-parametric EQ would appeal to some and it's a nice addition. Same goes for the DI level control.
The pre/post EQ DI out and the mute option are great features. I think though that using the master as a pull/push mute control is not so convenient as one might change the output level while engaging. Mute deserve to get its own button... I understand there's a limited space on the front panel, especially when trying to avoid knobs on the back.


One off topic question if I may, does the 121H cab have a tweeter level control?

I think that those 'enhancements' are very nice. As an occasional upright player, I find parametric (or at least semi-parametric) mids to be very helpful. They are also great for taming a bad room (boost the mids, crank the freq knob around until it sounds even worse, then turn the boost into a cut, and presto!). Mute and pre/post controls are also no-brainers, and very welcome. :cool:

What do we think? It looks like you read every thread on
Talkbass about what guys would wish for in a head, and
did it. You'd need a shoehorn to fit any more usable features
into an amp. Lets see one of these jokers complain about
what they'd want on an MB amp now. lol
That 4x6 box looked very nice too.

Thanks... Markbass has certainly not gotten to where it is by ignoring the feedback and opinions of bass players. Marco says over and over that he is not trying to impose his ideas on the marketplace... he's trying to give bass players what they want and need. In case you haven't noticed, I spend a lot of time here... and I'm always interested to read and pass on comments from you guys.

Yes, all the cabs have tweeter level controls on the side.

Any chance of a similar update to the LMII? (LMIII?) As far as I'm concerned the LMII is almost perfect but a few of those features certainly wouldn't be bad to have.

edit: One of the prototypes? What else was there?
