I'm a middle aged professional, and love all the new light weight gear out there. I had an SVT and two 8-10 cabs, but that was a long time ago. I have developed back problems, and was curious, what are you other older bassists using? I'm interested in your combos, and head / cab choices for all different applications. This also might help some of our younger bass brothers from injuring themselves!

epifani ultralite all the way baby.
the best speakers i've ever used.
i'm only young but i have a lot of stairs to climb back and forth from my apartment to my car.
Epifani UL210 in my left hand, eden wt800 in my right and my bass on my back, one trip.
also Acoustic Image Heads are awesome too, 400 or 800 watts for under 5lbs and you can fit it in your hand bag (....ummm i mean your european carryall)

I have had multiple back surgeries as the result of an injury in highschool and my "having a bad day" setup is the following:

Jerry Jones Longhorn Bass (hollowbody, short scale, with a wide strap)
Trace Elliot V-type Preamp direct into the board (single space tube preamp)
Whatever monitor is available

As I double electric bass and upright, I regularly use a Carvin Stagemate system, which is essentially a complete PA in a single box, with my Radial Bassbone to switch between instruments.

well I downsized my 125lbs Peavey 1820 cab to a ~85lbs Bag End D12...
still using my 100lbs tube head though :bassist:
(with a hand truck)

but I play for fun these days at 40. In my 20s I gigged an AMP BH-250 into a couple of 45lbs Bag End cabs... I'd most likely have a powered S12 and my pedalboard if I gigged regular today.

you are so right Terry. It does a lot more damage than it should for such a little thing.
