TI Jazz Flats rule for me...

I first put them on my '78 P a while back, & since have switched all my basses but the Rick. They are the sweetest feeling, fattest sounding, lowest tension strings IMO. I was also able to dial-in the set-up to have ridiculously low action thanks to the tension. I play with a very light touch, & for me these are the supreme solution.

I'm really impressed with these strings. I put a set of TI flats on a stack knob Jazz and they sound GREAT. Couple days ago I put a set on a Dano DC Bass and it absolutely kills. LOve the tone, love the feel, don't mind the low tension one little bit.

I also just put a set of Jazz Rounds on a Jazz. The ultra-light gauge is strange at first (the E string is only .89) but got used to it quickly. They're also really nice strings, though maybe even more of an aquired taste than the JFs. They feel lovely, very slinky, and respond beautifully to a more finesse approach. Very balanced. Low tension but very comfortable to play, at least for me.

TIs have quickly become some of my favourite strings.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I just ordered a set of TI Nickel Flats (.043 - .100, JF344) for my Squier VM Fretless and am looking forward to trying them out. I've been using Fender stainless flats (9050MLs, .050-.100) which while sounding fantastic on my 57RI P-Bass have too much tension (I think) for a fretless bass. I'll let you guys know whether I'm a new convert too after getting them. :D

well, i'm used to round wound strings on my jazz bass, so the tension seems about the same... and i tend to jump around like an idiot onstage once i've got a few beers in me, and i don't forsee the tension being an issue with these strings...

we'll see. going on tour for a week for some festivals... road test for the strings.

Has anyone tried the TI Flats on a 35" scale bass? I'm wondering if they're long enough...

Yes. I have the 34" set on my Yamaha TRB1006 (35" scale). They fit perfectly. The strings are strung through the bridge. I don't know how they would fit if the strings needed to go through the body.

The tension is increased slightly when you put the 34" set on a 35" bass. I can barely tell the difference though.

Peace,
Joe
