Which ONE bass would you have walked away from the international GTG ?

I hate to be pompous, but, the same ones I walked in with. That pre-aged Jazz 5 that Nino brought was uber cool though. For better or worse, the GTG actually negated my Sadowsky GAS.

I did walk away with a pre-owned Valenti P-Bass (Black w/Maple board - #039), but I would have liked to grab the 4-string burst that was given away too. That thing was sweet!
A close second probably would have been John's Jazz with the burled top and wenge neck w/ white blocks and bindings.

There were a lot of really beautiful instruments there, some of the not so expensive ones were pretty sweet, in addition to the higher end stuff. I particularly enjoyed:
1) Phil's Tacoma ABG (that thing is the size of a '54 Chevy
) and his Brice V2 fretless 6
2) I really liked Luke Sheridan's basses (Luke, I wish we could have chatted a bit but time got away from me)
3) The BassLabs were pretty wild
4) John's much-drooled-over Filakovsky
5) Laurent's new (prize) Valenti 5
All in all, excluding my own stuff (which is what I prefer ... there was a real lack of ERB's there
), the bass that really knocked me out was Cosmicevan's Morch 6 
That is a sweetheart of a bass ......

Ruben had a wicked silver colored bass that grabbed my eye immediately. Later, I saw Ruben playing that black Carvijn, and I think it was Dan Aronson's. Schweet!
Nino had an ebony-boarded bass there, the #1 giveaway bass. That one sure got me thinking. I LIKE Ebony. w/ FRETS. Black is beautiful!

I'm not sure whose it was, but the 6 string Pre Gibson Tobias was by far my favorite! It just sounded so damned good. I had to go home and make sure to play my Drozd. But now I'm jonesing for a pre-gibson tobias 5 string.

The Black Carvin 4 string fretted with its matching fretless bother, I forgot who owned it, but jesus where they sweet.
Buzzbasses Thumb 5 and I believe also his natural Lakland 55-02 with Duncan Pups?

I loved 'em all. MM's green Sad was killler... I loved Chronicle's Rick. The Thumb, Bass Labs, etc...
All great.
BUT... If I could have walked out with any one bass, it would have been Evan's Carl Thompson.

- Crusiders Warrior has a killer tone.
- The sunburst Valenti with Nordy's in it (nice neck and feel)
- The 4 sting Basslab (up there as well for killer tone IMHO)
- Nick wise Buzz's 5 string Bongo (although a little to middy for me but thats a very comfotable neck thats easy to play, espicially if you had to play 3 sets a night. I would put a delano or nordy in that puppy...but thats just me. )

Isn't that thumb the most awesome neck you've ever fealt on a Warwick ? That Lakie is actually an early 55-94, 10th anniv present from my lovely wife. She picked it out all by herself, after sneakily finding out what I liked. 
Wow, I guess bringing my "odd balls" went over well. I'm glad so many of you guys dug my weirdos. basswave, spend some time with that Bongo pre, the mids are very powerful, a little goes a long long way. And yes I agree, It's one of the finest feeling necks of any bass I've ever played, at ANY price point. The haters should just close their eyes and play one, all things will become clear after that. It did for me, I was a hater too. That bass is probably the best bang for the buck bas on the market today. That and Nino's stuff, of course. Pleasure to have met you.
I would have like to try the Bongo, I just never got around to it. Oh well, maybe next time.
I did love that 78 P you had. Sounded great and can also double as a weapon!
