OK....this is a little long, but I'm still in shock that this happened tonight......
A little background. I had my Schecter Ultra bass posted in the classifieds to trade. Great bass, but I recently picked up a Reggie Hamilton Jazz and have had several Fenders. I decided I wanted to get another Fender and see what I could get for the Ultra. I had a few offers, but nothing great. I was hoping to land a Geddy.
I also had a trade post up on my local Craigs. I had received a response if I was interested in an 83 P bass (MIA P Bass!). I thought I was seeing things. I thought the guy was full of sh*t. He sent pics and said he just wanted to try the Ultra out. He knew that his bass was worth more, but he was looking for something different (Ultra fits that bill). I'm more of a jazz bass guy, but the thought of a MIA Fender was too good. The stuff of good TB posts.
He sent pictures and gave me a description. The P bass was modded and it was a players bass. So not a collectors piece No biggie for me....I'm not a collector. We went back and forth and tried to find a day to meet. That was tough. It took weeks and my hopes were sky high. I have GAS'd for a MIA Fender, but they were well out of reach. Well tonight I went out and met him.
So, I am now a proud owner of an 83 Fender P.
Antiqued creme/white with maple board. Players bass with some 'mojo'. Great feel and tone. Just a sweet sweet bass. It has some dings and scratches but it was not abused. It needs a set up (sitting for 2-3 years). Frets could be redone sooner rather than later.
I'm still staring in disbelief.
I've added a few pics that were sent to me. I will take more and post.
Sorry....just had to share!
