I searched, really...several ways.
Unbelievably, I found...not very much.

So, if there are any real life users out there, I really want to hear from you on how it works.

I have a Valenti JJ with Nord Big Singles and an Audere...I don't like the Audere as much as I like the Aggie OBP3 in my Valenti PJ (also Nord filled).

I've loved Nord pickups in everything I've used them in, and I figure their preamp has got to be the perfect pairing with their pickups.

I got to send some quality time with one of Tom Clement's creations this weekend. Nordy MM at the bridge, Nordy Big Single ( I think ) at the neck, Nordy Pre . Volume, Blend, Tone, Bass, Mid (push pull), Treble.
Very impressed (all around, bass and electronics). Pre is very transparent when used with no boost or cut. Low boost is very solid without boom, High boost is crisp with no harshness. The mid freaqs are just to my liking, lows mids punchy, high mids can remove any "clanck" for slapping. To my surprise I loved the passive style tone control. IMHO a really great pre. I know it"s number one on my short list.

Chef, I have a Nordstrand preamp in my CAR Lakland 55-01, along with Nordstrand Dual Coil pickups (series wound) and switches for series/single coil/parallel. Of course, this setup was inspired by you and billbern after reading about your 55-01 modifications. I posted my thoughts on my setup over at BABP. Pretty much what everyone has said so far in this thread is my experience with my bass.

Well, I'm not really good at describing sound and the difference between preamps, but I own one of Tom's basses with a Nordy preamp, and it works excellently. I agree with Tom, it's not as aggressive as the Aguilar, on my bass I can use all wheels to the full effect without overdriving the signal. I like the sound, it keeps the bass warm and well sounding.
The passive tone is very useful, even though it may not seem like it. But the passive tone control will filter out frequency ranges completely, and you can then later shape your tone with the active cut/boosts. I like it.
The power-on is a nifty feature, too. After you plug it in, it takes a few seconds before the preamp chips in. Useful for avoiding those big bangs when you switch cables.

I like it, but then, I always was more interested in the instrument than the preamp. It works fine on my bass, but then, I don't really have an issue with the Aggie's, either.

I ordered one.
Vol/vol; passive tone/pull to bypass active; mid/pullshift; treb/bass.

It'll be going in the Valenti pictured above, sometime in the next two weeks.

I also ordered a Tone Hammer...

You can adjust the mid selector anywhere b/t 200Hz and 1kz, and I think you can have three points also. (If your asking a generic question. If you're asking Chef, then yeah, I'd like to know too.)

Looking forward to seeing what you think. I have an ash/maple CallowHill Junk5 in the works with Big Singles and a Nordy preamp. But I've been waffling a little b/t the Singles or Dual Coils. At first I was going for Big Splits by changed to Singles.

what phish quoted is how the specs on bestbassgear read...that's where i ordered; presume that's what i'm getting.
been a while since i read the nord site, but i seem to remembers it being "additionally adjustable," somehow.
