I have played that exact bass. It's outstanding. Surprising tone arco, pizz is strong but not overly loud. Bright but still with the richness of an old bass. It plays impeccably and needs nothing.

No or I would have bought it. It was kinda small feeling. I'm used to a 7/8 bass and the bouts were smaller than I prefer. Arco, especially on the upper strings it was much sweeter than the bass I bought. The bass I bought has much more pizz power at the expense of some of that arco sweetness. A good tradeoff for what I do.

That's a good bang for the buck bass right there.I think it's gorgeous!
I think it looks great. I inquired with Ken about the Batchelder but ultimately worried about having so much invested in it. For someone who wants a small Prescott type instrument (like me, ideally!) I think it looks fantastic.

The scroll on that thing is super bad. Under the bow it is really really sweet. It's a smaller bass so it doesn't have the room rattle of the big Yankee bass but because of that I'd bet it would amplify really well. That Yankee bass tubby low end thing doesn't amplify as well as a bass with a tighter low end.
The sweetest love may come after tasting the most bitter fruit.......I think if I got my hands on this instrument, I wouldn't want to let go.

The shoulders look jagged and lopside; the f-holes seem uneven, skinny and ragged; the back of the upper bout looks mismatched; the scroll looks off-balance, skinny and lopsided; and, the finish looks like it was done by an amateur working on a cheap piece of furniture.
