Who else has an Ashbory? Thoughts?

Who else has an Ashbory? I did a search, and the only thing I found was Dirk Diggler's thread about the one he totally remade to look like a Tobias (The 'Hippo' bass thread), a quick question to Justin Meldal-Johnsen earlier this year, and several technical questions (intonation, fingerpicking styles, etc.). I haven't found anything else asking who else had 'em.

I got mine about 6 months ago, and have toyed with it a bit. Then I sort of forgot about it. Now, we have a gig tonight, and I was practicing scales and such. I saw it laying around, and thought that it would be cool to bust it out on a few of our slower, easier dub songs. I'm probably not going to tell the other guys until about a second before the songs start. Let's see how it goes...

I have one, which I converted to lefty. I think they're a lot of fun to play, and anyone I've played it for is amazed at the fat upright tone it puts out. as you probably know, they are a pain in the ass to set up, keep in tune, maintain, and play beyond the 5th fret, but I quickly discovered that the key to success with these is to constantly keep the strings powdered (I use baby powder). Eventually (after about a month of continuous use), the strings will settle and be much easier to keep in tune, but before I powdered then consistently they would snap in the gig bag. (It's funny, but I'd be watching TV and suddenly hear this loud "Pop!" in the other room. "What the hell was that?!", my wife would ask. "Oh, it's just the strings snapping off my bass."

I didn't get a chance to try mine out last Friday.

[rant]So, the headliner for our gig bailed out for reasons I can completely understand, but it left us with a new time slot and an hour and a half to fill, instead of about 50 minutes. The opening band (not bad, but their first gig ever) started late. Then they took FOREVER to tear down - about an hour. Really. At one point, our band was helping them unload their stuff off the stage. :rollno:All of the sudden, we only had a 1/2 hour to play. We played 5 songs before we got shut down. We didn't get to the dub songs, so I didn't get to try out the Ashbory live. :bawl: Bastards...[/rant
