Best Metal Basses

its not a rhetorical question

Didn't mean to sound snippy. ;) (Thanks for the correction on the word rhetorical btw.)

This question gets asked a lot on this forum.
Almost once a week.

The concensus is that the best bass for metal is any bass you like personally.... preferably in black. :)

I play metal and I personally like precision basses, for metal.
(Steve Harris only needs a precision bass.)

Some will say Spectors are great for metal, some Ibanez... and so on, and so on...

What bass do you have now? (Your profile isn't filled in.)

It's hard to pin down one bass that's great for metal, because there are several different sounds that can be used in metal.

I like sharp, bright and clean sound for metal.
Some like a bit more growly tone and prefer a bass with double humbuckers.
Some forms of metal have very dubby basslines so basses with deep low end are prefered.

:)

Ok, im going to STOP this madness!!! This depends on what metal you're talking about; are you an 80s metal guy, or a Swedish/Norwegian hardcore thrash extreme/death metal (i could go on :smug:) 2 completely different things. You need to know what kind of sound you like...do you like the Maiden sound, do you like a very mid slicy cutting through the mix tone, or do you like rumbling where you can't distinguish an E from an E# :p. What metal bands do you like? Any how, be more specific and we might give you some points in the right direction.

RANT OVER...:D

Because they refuse to tell us here on the forum. :bawl:
