The wait is over! I picked up my new 4 ohm Powerhouse 212 this afternoon... I ordered the vintage version with black bronco, black twisted jute grille and silver piping (see pics below).

Initial reactions:

1. Deep and smooth... the tone seems even across the frequency range and to my ears sounds deeper than my 115.

2. Great tone... I've been playing 15s (Bag End & Diesel) for about a 6 months... and for the last few years, Eden 212XST, and Powerhouse 210/115 (stack). Compared to the 15s, this is way fuller sounding and frankly sounds way better to my ears. The Eden, sounded more similar in terms of smoothness/evenness, but had sort of a sterile tone..maybe too hi-fi. The PH 212/115 stack, while sounding huge, had holes in it's frequency response range.

The PH 212 is more of a complete package and sound great tonally and I suspect will be a fantastic one cab solution... especially as it breaks-in

3. Very light for it's size... I can easily carry this by myself up the gravel path to my car.

4. Looks cool :cool:

5. With the M-pulse 600, it sounds ridiculously good and was worth the wait!

One thing though... I'm really curious about the speakers. They have this little woven, mirrored disk at the center of the speaker cone. I've never seen this before and am wondering who make this speaker for mesa and what does the disk do?

Anyway, I've posted some pics below...

I'm gonna have to get one of these to A/B with my Aggie GS212... but wait.. if I want a Titan V12 eventually, I should get an 8-ohm one so when I get a second one it is a 4-ohm load for the 1200 watts...

Wait.. maybe I should just get the Titan V12 now, because my BB750 won't be so hot into a single 8-ohm 212.. and I know I'd love it!!

:eek::eek::eek:

So much GAS, so little time.

The 1st generation 2512"s had a full screen dust cap. It had a little more zing than the II's. Maybe it helps with the highs a little. Interesting.

Ordering the vintage version was kind of a last minute impulse and I'm glad I did it, cause it does look awesome.

BTW Tom, do you know what the speaker cone doowickie is? And, do you know who makes the drivers for Mesa?

Anyway, this may be the era of the 12... and I'm loving it! I've gotta rehearsal tonight, so I'll see what the boys (and girl) in the band think.

Rocking on :bassist: :D
